WEG sets up new plant in Hosur in Tamil Nadu

WEG, a leading manufacturer of efficient motors from Brazil is planning to invest Rs.4370 million to set up a new plant in Hosur in Tamil Nadu. The new plant will come up on 170,000 sq.meters and will produce medium and high voltage motors and generators. So far WEG had been importing from Brazil to meet the local requirement. Now it will cater to motors and generators in irrigation, water distribution, waste water treatment, power generation and transport systems

Kerala Electrical and Allied Engineering Co to open Edarikkodu unit at Malapuram

Kerala Electrical and Allied Engineering Co, a government of Kerala unit has set up production unit to manufacture transformer at Edarikkodu in Malapuram in Kerala. It will supply most of its produce to Kerala State Electricity Board. In the initial phase, the unit will manufacture 1200 transformers of 100 kva capacity with a value of Rs.100 million. It may be noted, the company has 4 profitable units in Kerala viz. Kundara, Mamala, Olavakodu and Kasargodu.

Andrew Yule to modernize Kolkatta and Chennai plants

Andrew Yule is planning to invest Rs. 150 million to modernize Kolkatta and Chennai plants to produce new range of equipments. It plans to produce high range of equipments like capacitors, transformers  and auto-reclosers etc., by reviving an earlier tie-up with Togami, a Japanese company. It is also talking to International Electric Co Ltd, a south Korean company to produce 11kv automatic voltage regulators. In the current fiscal, it has export orders worth Rs.60 million to Canada and Africa.

Siemens has set up a switch gear unit at Aurangabad

Siemens has commissioned its gas insulated switch gear unit at Aurangabad with an investment of Rs. 400 million. The new unit will manufacture switch gear from 72.5 KV to 245 KV and may go up to 420 KV switch gears.
