Salzer Electronics to raise funds through private equity

Salzer Electronics Ltd, the Coimbatore based company is planning to raise funds for Rs.1500 million through private equity. It will use the funds to meet its expenditure towards some big projects. It has recently been awarded contract worth Rs.75 million from Coimbatore and also Rs.500 million project from Bangalore administration. The company manufactures energy saving products and has invested heavily towards R&D. It has also developed a new product – automated metering system which can monitor systems and also generate billing. It has been introduced in Bhopal as a pilot project.
 

Bharat Forge to set up power equipment plant in Kutch

Bharat Forge which is tying up with French company Alstom to manufacture technologically advance power turbines and generators. The company will investment Rs.24,000 million and has been allotted 120 acres in the Mundra Port SEZ. It may be noted, the company had earlier chosen West Bengal as its destination and shifted to Gujarat on account of land acquisition problems. In another venture, it is tying with French major Areva, to set up nuclear power plant components unit which includes mega 550 tonnes rolled forgings. It has also set up a 14000 tonne open die facility.
 

Hunger Hydraulics opens new plant in Sankrail

Hunger Hydraulics has opened its new plant at Sankrail in WB. The plant is on 0.6 acres and is built with an investment of Rs.130 million. The high tech polymers plant will manufacture polymer based seals and bearing elements for hydraulic /pneumatic cylinders for domestic markets and later to export markets.
 

BEL to produce thermal imagers, ATM Radars etc.,

Bharat Electronics Ltd, is planning to invest Rs.10000 to Rs.15000 million to produce critical technology products like thermal imagers, ATM Radars, guidance systems, air-borne defence systems with joint ventures. BEL is in talks with Elbit El-Op and Photonis for night vision products for electro optic systems mounted on defence vehicles. Last year it has commissioned KPMG to conduct a study for future growth area. It may be noted, the company gets 80% of its revenue from futuristic products for armed forces. It is has considered some buy-outs of technical companies but decided against it. Currently, it is scouting for technology tie-ups with Boeing, Europe’s Selex Galileo and Thales and the Hyderabad-based Astra Microwave.
