Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is outsourcing many components for its instrumentation and the business opportunities in this segment will grow further, according to the Professor at the University of Hyderabad and former ISRO scientist, Prof. Syed Maqbool Ahmed,.
“Hyderabad is already a hub of outsourcing for ISRO. As NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) is also focussing on cost advantages now, there will be many opportunities for instrumentation firms in Hyderabad in particular and India in general,” Prof. Ahmed said in his talk at ‘Ideas Worth Spreading', a programme, organised by TEDxHitechCity at Indian School of Business here on Sunday.
Outlining the objectives and achievements of the Chandrayan programme, he said space research was ‘ruthless' as a small mistake could cost heavily.
“Even if there was less then one per cent of wrong in various processes, we would not have gone to the Moon,” he added.
Mr Kukunoor, Director of Bollywood films (such as Iqbal), the film industry experiments could be highly rewarding some times.
“There is a lot of scope for new ideas in film-making. Literally, the film business is done by a small group of people who give primacy only to their preferences,” he said.
As a director, he would like to focus on themes which were not done before, he added.
Mr Deepak Menon, Group Design Manager, Microsoft Indian Development Centre, said in any field, products would only when one experiences them completely.
Adhering to giving importance to user-experience, attention to detail and convenience of usage, would make products highly successful.
“For example, automatic transmission and power-steering made big difference in the automobile industry. Avatar movie was successful because of the attention to detail,” he added.
Over 450 people attended the one-day programme organised by TEDx under its ‘Beyond Boundaries' programme with series of short talks by achievers from various fields to inspire the people in general.
