CSA India commissions Smart Energy Meter plant

CSA India Ltd, has commissioned a manufacturing facility in Pashmylaram in Medak district of Andhra Pradesh. The new facility will manufacture 1,50,000 Smart Energy Meters has come up with an investment of Rs. 260 million. The Smart Energy Meter - a combination of an energy meter and a communication device forms the backbone for Smartgrids in the country. The SEM market in India is in nascent stage and CSA India is all set to become a prominent player

Salzer Electronics to raise funds through private equity

Salzer Electronics Ltd, the Coimbatore based company is planning to raise funds for Rs.1500 million through private equity. It will use the funds to meet its expenditure towards some big projects. It has recently been awarded contract worth Rs.75 million from Coimbatore and also Rs.500 million project from Bangalore administration. The company manufactures energy saving products and has invested heavily towards R&D. It has also developed a new product – automated metering system which can monitor systems and also generate billing. It has been introduced in Bhopal as a pilot project.

Opto Circuits to invest Rs.200 million in Vizag SEZ

Opto Circuits, a Bangalore based company which manufactures patient monitoring devices like pulse oximeters, multi-parameter monitors, sensors and such other devices in the non-invasive category and in the invasive category it manufactures stents, balloons and catheters. The company has acquired a few units in Vizag SEZ of around 30,000 sq.ft and has started trial production. It could start commercial production by Feb 2010. It may be noted, the company has raised around Rs.4000 million through QIP route on which around Rs.2300 million had been utilized to settle old debts.

Momentive Performance Materials to move silicone unit to Chennai

Momentive Performance Materials, a US based company is setting up high tech silicone unit in Sriperumpudur unit near Chennai with an investment of Rs. 270 million. The project will be developed in two phases. The company which has its corporate office, R&D centre and a production facility now in Bangalore in leased land will move from Bangalore to Sriperumpudur. Its first phase has been completed, from here it will serve Nokia and Hyundai (located in Sriperumpudur) and also serve South and West Asian markets.
