BHEL to modernize BHPV plant in Vizag

BHEL is planning to invest around Rs.2500 million in Bharart Heavy Plates and Vessels Ltd (BHPV) which was acquired by BHEL last year. The infusion of funds will be used to modernize the plant. Currently, BHPV is EPC unit for processing industries equipment and cyrogenics. Its turnover is expected to cross Rs.10000 million.

L&T is setting up integrated forgings shop at Hazira

Larsen &Toubro is setting up a integrated super heavy forgings shop at Hazira in Surat district of Gujarat. The capacity of the unit will be Forgings (60,000 MTPA) and Steel Ingots & Castings (80,000 MTPA), Supercritical Steam Turbines & Generators (4 Units/year) and Boilers (3 Units/year). Special raw materials like lime, dolomite, fluorspar, ferro alloys, ferro chrome, ferro manganese, ferro molybdenum, nickel, ferro silicon, ferro titanium and ferrro vanadium, etc. The unit is likely to cater nuclear power generation customer, who need this critical type of equipments. The total project cost is estimated at Rs. 36900 million.

BHEL to set up new boiler component unit in TN

BHEL, leading boiler manufacturer is setting up a manufacturing unit in Thirumayam in Tamil Nadu, approximately 70 km from BHEL main plant. The plant is coming up with an investment of Rs.2500 million and will provide direct employment of 750 persons and indirect employment to 3000. It will attain a turnover of Rs.50000 million in the first year of operations. The new unit will boiler components initially and may later expanded to produce other components.

Elecon Engineering delays expansion plans

Elecon Engineering, the Gujarat based engineering group is delaying its expansion plans. Earlier the company were scouting in Europe and US to acquire mid-sized engineering company around Rs.4000 million. With recessionary pressures, coupled with high steel prices and currency fluctuations, the company has shelved its plans. Currently, the company has healthy order book of Rs.18,000 million.
