Pilatus to set up manufacturing facility in India

Pilatus, a Swiss based aircraft manufacturer is planning to set up a manufacturing facility in India. The firm, which is supplying 75 basic training aircraft PC-7 to the Indian Air Force, intends to set up a facility that will initially manufacture airframes for its single-engine turboprop PC-12 aircraft. These airframes will be shipped to Switzerland for final assembly.

RINL to produce rail wagon wheels from Rae Bareilly

RINL is setting up an manufacturing facility in Rae Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh with an investment of Rs. 10000 million. The company plans to use 38 acres of the existing rail coach factory and is setting up a rail wagon wheel factory. Currently, India imports 70% of its requirement through imports. The input for the wheels will come from its Vizag steel plant through its caster which can produce 500 dia rounds. The investment for the project will be met from internal accruals and debt

Oerlikon Drive Systems plans Sanand plant

Oerlikon Drive Systems is planning to set up a manufacturing facility in Sanand in Gujarat. The project entails an investment of Rs. 4000 million which will be in phases. The company will manufacture drive systems, transmission components and complete transmissions when the plant goes operational by 2015. The expansion programme will continue till 2018. Currently, the company has plants in Noida and Belgaum in Karnataka. As India offers cost competitiveness, the company favours exports of drive systems from India.

BEML and Cades to work on aerospace business

BEML has signed up an agreement with Cades Digitech Pvt Ltd to work jointly on "Design to Build" and "Build to Print" for global aerospace majors. The company is diversifying into aerospace and will set up a aerospace division to manufacture spare parts for aircraft trainers, aerospace castings, gears of transmission systems mostly from European companies. It may be noted that, Cades had been chosen as preferred suppliers from European companies and BEML had signed up an agreement with Karnataka govt for setting up an aerospace complex in the upcoming SEZ in Devanahalli near Bangalore.
