Volvo expanding its construction division in Bangalore

Volvo, a leader in construction equipment has entered India in 2008 by acquisition of Ingersoll Rand road equipment division in Bangalore. It is planning to invest Rs.900 million at Peenya facility in Bangalore to manufacture medium sized excavators. It is also expanding its dealer network and plans to export it to Asian markets after catering to the growing domestic market.

Mackeil Group to set up forgings unit at Durgapur

Mackeil Group is planning to invest Rs. 7000 million in Durgapur to set up an integrated forgings plant. In first phase, the company will invest Rs.2000 million and in the second phase it will set up steel melting shop and process of land acquisition had already started. The forging unit will have a production capacity of 40,000 tonnes and the integrated steel melting plant will have a capacity of 0.3 million tonnes. Currently, the company is manufacturing gear boxes, rolling items, railway equipment etc.,

ElectroMech to expand its production at Pune

ElectroMech Material Handling Systems Pvt Ltd, a manufacturer of cranes and material handling equipment is expanding its plant at Piranguat in Pune with an investment of Rs. 250 million. The facilities will become operational by next month (July 2009). The company is also setting up another facility at Sriperumpudur near Chennai to make 200 cranes per year. It will make single girder, double girder, stacker and goliath cranes.

J C Bamford Excavators double its production capacity

J C Bamford Excavators has doubled its production capacity at its Ballabgarh from 50 units/day to 100 units/day with an investment of Rs. 3000 million. The company which is present in India from 1979 is the world largest construction equipment maker after Caterpillar and Komatsu and its Indian operations contributed 1/4th of its parents revenue in 2008. The company has also invested Rs.5500 million over the last 3 years in its Pune manufacturing facilities.
